Rowen Group - A New Beginning
The North East entrepreneur behind one of the UK’s fastest-growing online fashion retailers turned to Leathers in exiting the business and establishing her new venture.
Alice Hall, founder of Pink Boutique - which was famously turned a £90 investment from Alice and her mother Julie Blackie into a global fashion business with 70 staff - recently announced her exit from the business, to concentrate on the launch of Rowen Group.
Chartered accountants Leathers helped facilitate the exit plan and devise a tax strategy to provide the entrepreneur with a platform to focus on her new business ventures.
The new group consists of three businesses - food allergy company Allergy Box; online health snacks retailer LowKal, and interior design business, Rowen Design - a number of jobs have been created already.
Alice – whose work with Pink Boutique earned her a place on the Forbes 30 under 30 list – is also establishing Rowen Group’s headquarters at Baker’s Yard in Gosforth, the former Greggs Bakery site.
The Leathers team have been working closely with Alice over a period of 18 months to support her in her plans to both exit and subsequently launch the Rowen Group. Further to the departure from Pink Boutique in March, and despite the difficulties created during lockdown, Alice’s and her team’s passion together with the efforts of Leathers have enabled a successful start-up.
Leathers, one of the region’s fastest-growing accountants with offices in Newcastle, Durham and Harrogate, have been delighted to be part of a such a high-profile new venture in the midst of a crisis.
Alice said: “Leathers managed the whole sale process for me super efficiently, making it an easy and straightforward process. It’s reassuring to have Ryan on the end of the phone to ask about structures and tax queries, he really knows his stuff which is exactly what we need when working at such a fast pace”.
Ryan Harrison, partner in Leathers, acted on behalf of Alice and her family in the Pink Boutique exit and creation of Rowen Group.
“Alice is a hugely successful entrepreneur and we are very pleased to have been able to support her with her exit from Pink Boutique in a timely manner and rejigging plans to ensure deadlines were met in a tax efficient manner,” he said.
“Rowen Group promises to be another very exciting venture and provides a platform for the future growth of the businesses within it. We advised Alice on the set-up and structure of her group, supporting her in the final stages remotely due to lockdown being imposed, and are delighted to see it launch. We wish Alice every success for the future.”
