Le Loop 2018 - Stage 3: Cholet - Cholet (Team Time Trial Day)
In a departure from previous years, we were set off at intervals; but what a nice ride- the overnight storm had cleared the ever-building heat and humidity..... so in cloudy and pleasant conditions off we went....
I don’t think I was alone (but maybe it was just me) in riding reasonably hard on the flat and downhills and easing back slightly on the climbs; fascinating stage... one stand out feature being the climb in La Seguiniere.... very reminiscent of the Marseille climb up to Notre Dame of 2017 but with real potential to cause time splits.
The other stand out feature in a completely different way being the quirky road markers out on the open roads counting the distance down.
Then possibly the stand out feature of the day; an early transfer to La Baule, a walk on the beach, paddle in the sea and Crepe and coffee at a beach side cafe. I am sure there’s more that should be said but at this moment not; life is more relaxed than it possibly should be.... some big days to come and 400 km in the bag.
